FAQs & T&Cs

Q. How long will my project take?

A. A fully decorated pair of bespoke hand-painted shoes can take at least 10-12 hours to create.  Due to drying time between layers this can span 2-3 days.  We are typically booked up for 2-3 weeks in advance and while we aim to turnaround your order as quickly as possible, we prefer to be able to take time to make sure that your Shoodle shoes are perfect.  While we'd love to be able to turnaround and send out a pair of shoes within a day, we're not sure they'd be very pretty.

Once you have confirmed your order and paid in full, your project will be scheduled for the next available space - please note that your space is not reserved until full payment has been received.  Once we receive your shoes for painting we will let you know and we will keep you informed of the progress along the way.  Unless you'd prefer to be surprised!

Q. Do I provide the shoes?

A. You can do - we find it's better that you supply the shoes to make sure they are comfortable and fit you well, but we can supply our own shoes to save you the trouble.  For a long lasting painted design, which can be worn regularly, we recommend shoes with a fabric or suede finish as this will help the paint to adhere well to the surface. For a special occasion shoe, which won't be worn as often, a smooth leather finish can be decorated with finer details, so is ideal for wedding designs. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements before purchasing your shoes.  We are happy to fit your design ideas around the shape of the shoe.

Please note that due to postage/insurance restrictions, we cannot accept shoes with a purchase value of over £50 without prior agreement.  If you would like to send us shoes which cost over £50 please contact us to discuss the extra postage supplement to cover their full value on return to you.

Q. Are they waterproof?

A. Shoodle shoes are painted using high quality acrylic paints which dry to a plastic-like finish, meaning they can be wiped clean using a damp cloth (do not rub or scrub though).  Some customers have confessed to putting their Shoodle shoes in the washing machine and apparently they come out fine!  While we certainly do not recommend this, it illustrates how tough the painted finish can be.  We recommend cleaning them by hand with warm soap water and a soft cloth.  The hand-painted design is finished with a clear acrylic glaze to give extra protection. You may wish to spray them with a proprietary shoe protector for further waterproofing of the fabric parts of the shoe. Beads and gems are attached using an industrial strength adhesive or a Hot-Fix system, as used on gymnastics and dance costumes for long lasting designs.

Q. What can I include in my design?

A. Your Shoodle shoes are bespoke and totally personalised for you. They can include patterns and pictures, names, dates, places, song lyrics, quotes and anything to make them uniquely yours.  However things we cannot include are: trademarked logos and brands or anything copyrighted to another artist, such as TV or cartoon characters. While you are welcome to send us photos for inspiration, Shoodle will not directly copy another artist's shoe design.

Q. What if i'm unhappy with my shoes?

A. We pride ourselves on creating your perfect pair of shoes and, as you can see from our customer testimonials, we have had many happy customers. If you are not delighted with your shoes please contact us and we will do everything we can to rectify the situation.  Please note that as these are a bespoke personalised item, created especially for you, refunds cannot be given unless in an exceptional circumstance.  Once you send us your shoes you are accepting that they will be painted on and cannot be returned in their original condition.  Shoodle is committed to providing you with shoes you will love and we will work until you are happy with the results.

Q. How long will it take for my shoes take to be delivered?

A. Your shoes will be sent by Royal Mail First Class Recorded Delivery within the UK for £4.95.  Someone will need to be available to sign for the parcel at the address you give us.  This service is expected to arrive within 1-2 working days however Royal Mail allow up to 10 working days for delivery.  A tracking number will be provided - please note that Shoodle are not responsible for any delays once the parcel has left our studio and whilst we will do everything we can to ensure your parcel reaches you in good time, we cannot be held responsible for any inconvenience caused by late delivery.

Please ensure that you confirm and pay for your order in good time for the occasion to prevent disappointment and to allow time for your shoes to be remade if the worst happens and they get lost in the post.  Please note that in the event of dispute Shoodle's liability only extends to replacing your own shoes or refunding their purchase cost, and not for any loss arising from you having to source an alternative.  Especially if that alternative is a pair of Laboutins.

Please contact us for details of delivery outside of the UK.  Overseas parcels cannot be tracked once they leave the UK until they reach their final destination.

Q. How much does it cost to have a pair of shoes painted?

A. Prices start at £75 for our Classic script design, up to £225 for our Supreme design heels.  As each pair of shoes is completely bespoke we can tailor your design to suit your budget, so please do contact us with your ideas.   If you send us a pair of knee high boots bear in mind the cost to fully paint them will be higher than a regular pair of shoes!

Payment for the artwork and delivery is made in advance by Paypal or bank transfer.  Please note that work will only commence on your order once full payment has been received.  Once work has started on your hand-painted design we are unable to make major changes, although we can send you progress pictures and you are welcome to suggest any small tweaks along the way.

Please bear in mind that as the shoes are totally hand-painted, no two pairs will be the same; the exact size, colour and details included may vary from any pictures shown due to variations in paint mixing, the shape and style of your shoes etc.  Some changes may be necessary to the original specification depending on factors beyond our control but we will discuss any amendments with you.  Rest assured we want you to be totally happy with your finished shoes and will do everything in our power to make it so.

Q. How do I take care of my Shoodle shoes?

A.  Your hand-painted shoes are durable and hard wearing, but like any surface design they will show some wear and tear over time.  In order to keep them in good condition we recommend storing them in a bag or box to prevent them from being scuffed or from marking other shoes.

Q.  Why do you need my contact details and where can I find Shoodle's details? (GDPR policy)

A.  Shoodle will never use your details for contacting you about anything other than your bespoke shoe order.  We don't spam customers with unwanted sales messages or offers as we believe that our reputation speaks for itself.  We prefer to communicate with you by email or messenger so that we have a written record of details we have discussed, meaning there is no confusion over spellings, shoe sizes and pricing.  Your email communication will be via a password protected account.  If you sign up for newsletters or join our online groups, the T&Cs for those groups will apply.

We don't publish our phone number or address on this website to discourage spam calls and junk mail.  However, if you would like to discuss your project in person please send us a message including your phone number and we will call you.

You are welcome to meet with us in person by appointment  - Shoodle is based in Milton Keynes, close to junction 14 of the M1, we are centrally located near a great shopping centre.  We can advise of bridal stores in the vicinity if you would like to combine visits.

Q.  Is Shoodle a limited company?

A.  No Shoodle is a sole trader business owned and run by Catherine Tyler Prady, an artist living and working in Milton Keynes UK.  All projects are hand-painted by Catherine.

Q.  Do you have public liability insurance?

A.  Yes Shoodle is covered for personal injury liability up to £1 million. The paint used is non-toxic and water based, but please keep the shoes away from babies and small children.  While gems are well adhered, they may be dangerous to babies if swallowed.  Also babies shouldn't be eating shoes.
